The 2018 Tennis Season has seen a continued resurgence in the career of Rafael Nadal.  He holds the #1 ranking on the ATP tour after winning the French Open and reaching the finals at Wimbledon.  He has four tournament victories this season and has ranked either 1st or 2nd since June of 2017.  The next highest ranked men’s player is #28, Fernando Verdasco.

In Women’s Tennis Association Tour, Angelique Kerber has moved up to the #4 ranking after her dominant win over Serena Williams at Wimbledon.  It was her second tournament victory of the year.  Petra Kvitova is the next highest ranking women’s player, currently ranks #5 on the tour, with five tournament wins to her credit.

The 2018 Major League Baseball Regular Season has ended, and Lefthanded Batters and Lefthanded Pitchers are playing a prominent role in the game as they always do.  

Among batting leaders, 16 of the top 50 in Batting Average, 15 of the top 50 in Hits, 16 of the top 50 in Home Runs, and 17 of the top 50 in Runs Batted In are lefthanded batters. 

Among starting pitchers, 16 of the top 50 in Wins, 14 of the top 50 in Earned Runs Average, 13 of the top 50 in Innings Pitched, 14 of the top 50 in Strikeouts are lefthanded pitchers. 

Among relief pitchers, 3 of the top 10 in Games Saved are lefthanded pitchers.

Lefthanders In Sports - 2018 Season Update

The 2018 PGA Tour Season has been a very good year for lefthanded golfers, as they have accumulated five victories in the fifty-three tournaments held.  Bubba Watson lead the way with three tournament victories, while Phil Mickelson and Ted Potter Jr. each have one tournament victory ar this year.

Watson ranks 6th on the list of leading money winners, Mickelson ranks 13th, and Potter Jr. ranks 58th.  Brian Harman ranks 34th although he does not have any tour victories this year, he has finished in the top ten eight times.  And six other lefthanded golfers have played and won money in PGA Tour events this year, more than any year in history.
