The 2018 Major League Baseball Regular Season has just come to an end, and Lefthanded Batters and Lefthanded Pitchers have played a prominent role in the game as they always do.

Lefthanded Batters

Among the leaders in Batting Average, 16 of the top 50 are lefthanded batters.   Christian Yelich of the Milwaukee Brewers had the 3rd highest average at .326.  He was followed by Scooter Gennett of the Cincinnati Reds at.310, Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves and Michael Brantley of the Cleveland Indians at .309, and Joey Wendle of the Tampa Bay Rays and Corey Dickerson of the Pittsburgh Pirates at .300.

Among the leaders in Hits, 15 of the top 50 are lefthanded batters.   Freddie Freeman of the Atlanta Braves had the 2nd most hits with 191.  He was followed by Christian Yelich of the Brewers with 187, Nick Markakis of the Braves with 185, Charlie Blackmon of the Colorado Rockies with 182, and Scooter Gennett of the Reds with 181.

Among the leaders in Home Runs, 16 of the top 50 are lefthanded batters.   Joey Gallo of the Texas Rangers had the 3rd most home runs with 40.  He was followed by Matt Carpenter of the St. Louis Cardinals and Christian Yelich of the Brewers with 36, Max Muncy of the Los Angeles Dodgers with 35, Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals with 34, Travis Shaw of the Brewers with 32, and David Peralta of the Arizona Diamondbacks with 30.

Among the leaders in Runs Batted In, 17 of the top 50 are lefthanded batters.   Christian Yelich of the Brewers had the 4th most RBI with 110.  He was followed by Anthony Rizzo of the Chicago Cubs with 101, Bryce Harper of the Washington Nationals with 100, Jed Lowrie of the Oakland A;s with 99, and Freddie Freeman of the Braves with 98.

Lefthanded Starting Pitchers

Among the leaders in Earned Run Average, 14 of the top 50 are lefthanded.  Blake Snell of the Tampa Bay Rays had the 2nd best ERA with 1.89.  He was followed by Kyle Freeland of the Colorado Rockies at 2.85, Patrick Corbin of the Arizona Diamondbacks at 3.15, and Jon Lester of the Chicago Cubs at 3.32.

Among the leaders in Games Won, 16 of the top 50 are lefthanded.  Blake Snell of the Rays lead the league with 21 wins.  He was followed by Jon Lester of the Cubs with 18, Kyle Freeland of the Rockies and Jay Happ of the New York Yankees with 17, and David Price of the Boston Red Sox and Ryan Yarbrough of the Rays with 16.

Among Leaders in Strikeouts, 14 of the top 50 are lefthanded.  Patrick Corbin of the Diamondbacks had the 5th most strikeouts with 246.  He was followed by Chris Sale of the Boston Red Sox with 237, Blake Snell of the Rays with 221, and James Paxton of the Seattle Mariners with 208.

Among the leaders in Games Started, 13 of the top 50 are lefthanded.  Dallas Keuchel of the Houston Astros had the 2nd most starts with 34.  He was followed by Patrick Corbin of the Diamondbacks and Kyle Freeland of the Rockies with 33, and Tyler Anderson of the Rockies, Gio Gonzalez of the Milwaukee Brewers, Jon Lester, Cole Hamels and Jose Quintana of the Cubs all with 32.

Among the leaders in Innings Pitched, 13 of the top 50 are lefthanded.  Dallas Keuchel of the Astros had the 7th most innings pitched with 204.  He was followed by Kyle Freeland of the Rockies with 202, Patrick Corbin of the Diamondbacks with 200, Cole Hamels of the Cubs with 190, and Jon Lester of the Cubs with 181.

Lefthanded Relief Pitchers

Among the leaders in Games Saved, only 7 of the top 50 (but 3 of the top 10) are lefthanded.  Felipe Vazquez of the Pittsburgh Pirates had the 6th most games saved with 37.  He was followed by Aroldis Chapman of the New York Yankees and Brad Hand of the Cleveland Indians with 32.
